Ep. 122 - Commitment - Showing Up For What's Important In Life

In today’s episode of Journal Party, we’re reflecting on commitment. Whether it’s in relationships, personal goals, or showing up for the things that matter most, commitment is a cornerstone of growth and transformation. Inspired by my own upcoming wedding (yes, I’m getting married soon—eek!), we explore how commitment isn’t just about others—it’s about how we choose to honor our values, trust ourselves, and step into the life we want to create.
Grab your journal and get ready to explore:
1.Moments that have made you proud of your commitments.
2.Challenges and lessons from commitments you’ve struggled with.
3.A new promise you’re ready to make to yourself.
4.Your personal relationship with the idea of commitment.
5.The connection between trust and commitment in your life.
Take some time to reflect, write, and celebrate the ways you’ve shown up with intention in your own life.
And don’t forget to join us every Wednesday night at 6 PM PST for Journal Party LIVE! It’s a free weekly livestream where we journal together as a community and share our insights. It’s an amazing space to grow, connect, and have fun—don’t miss it!

JOURNAL PARTY! JOURNAL PARTY PODCAST! JOURNAL PARTY! JOURNAL PARTY PODCAST! What's up party people, you're listening to the Journal Party Podcast, where every week we get together for a little guided journaling jam sesh. My name is Alex Gallner, and I'll be your host, so here's how it works. I'll give you a journal prompt and a groove, and you just start writing. After a few minutes, you'll hear a little bell that sounds like this, and we'll move on to the next prompt. After a couple minutes, you'll hear that bell again, and we'll move on to the next prompt, and we'll just keep going on like that until we're finished. Feel free to write on whatever you like, and if you finish before the bell, you can try to dig deeper and elaborate, or just chill out and enjoy the tunes. Don't overthink it, there's no wrong way to do this, so, welcome to the party. Journal Party! Yo yo yo, party people! You know, as I'm sitting here today, I've been thinking a lot about this wild little thing called commitment. And, okay, I'll admit it, the topic is hitting me in the feels right now because I'm getting married soon. Yeah, I'm about to take one of the biggest steps in my life, but as I've been reflecting, I realized something. Commitment isn't just about relationships. It's about the promises that we make to ourselves, the values that we choose to stand by, and the way that we show up for the things that matter the most to us. So today, we're going to be jamming through five journal prompts to help us explore and deepen our relationship with commitment. Whether that's to a partner, a passion, a purpose, or just a vision of the person you're becoming. So, open up that journal and let's get this party started. Here comes prompt number one. Think about something or someone you've committed to in your life that has truly made you feel proud of yourself. What did that commitment teach you about your strength, your values, and your ability to persevere? Prompt number two. Write about a time when you struggled to stay committed to something, or even chose to let go of a commitment. What made it challenging, and what did you learn about yourself through that experience? Prompt number three. If you could make one unshakable commitment to yourself in this season of your life, what would it be? Why does it matter to you? Prompt number four. What's your relationship with the word commitment? Does it feel empowering? Scary? Exciting? Overwhelming maybe? Explore what feelings or memories this word brings up for you. Prompt number five. Write about the role of trust in your commitments. What helps you trust yourself or others to follow through? How can you nurture that trust moving forward? Okay party people, take a deep breath and let those reflections sink in. Whether you're stepping into a new commitment, renewing an old one, or just re evaluating what's important to you, remember that commitment doesn't mean perfection. It means showing up with intention, even when it's hard. And that's something worth celebrating. Now if today's prompts gave you some new insights, I'd love to hear about them. Come connect with me on Instagram at journalpartyomg, or my personal handle, at alexgelner, and if you haven't already, please leave a review.
