Ep. 128 - Trusting Yourself - 5 Journal Prompts To Strengthen Your Inner Voice
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
This episode is dedicated to helping you cultivate a deeper connection with your own intuition. In a world where we're constantly bombarded with opinions and advice, it's easy to lose sight of our inner voice. This episode is designed to guide you back to that place of self-assurance and confidence.
Have you ever found yourself asking others for advice, even when you already know what you want to do? You're not alone. Trusting ourselves can sometimes feel like an uphill battle, as if we need external validation to make decisions. But here's the truth: self-trust isn't something you earn from others. It's already within you, waiting to be acknowledged and embraced.
In this episode, we explore the concept of self-trust through five powerful journal prompts. These prompts are crafted to help you reflect on your past experiences, recognize patterns of self-doubt, and empower you to trust your instincts. Let's dive into these prompts and see how they can transform your relationship with yourself.
Prompt 1: Think back to a time when you trusted your gut and it paid off. How did it feel to lean into your own wisdom? Reflecting on these moments can reinforce your belief in your ability to make good decisions.
Prompt 2: Identify areas in your life where you tend to second-guess yourself. What would it look like to trust yourself in those situations? By visualizing a different approach, you can begin to shift your mindset and build confidence.
Prompt 3: Consider someone whose advice you often seek. What would happen if you trusted yourself instead of asking them? This prompt encourages you to evaluate the impact of external influences on your decision-making process.
Prompt 4: Make one small decision today without consulting anyone else. How does it feel to take ownership of that choice? This exercise is about practicing self-reliance and experiencing the empowerment that comes with it.
Prompt 5: Write a few encouraging words to yourself about why you are already capable of making good decisions. Positive affirmations can strengthen your self-belief and remind you of your inherent wisdom.
After working through these prompts, take a moment to sit with whatever came up for you. Remember, self-trust isn't about being right all the time. It's about knowing that even when things don't go perfectly, you have your own back. That's a powerful realization.

What's up party people? You're listening to the Journal Party podcast where every week we get together for a little guided journaling jam sash. My name is Alex Goner and I'll be your host. So here's how it works. I'll give you a journal prompt and a groove, and you just start writing. After a few minutes, you'll hear a little bell that sounds like this, and we'll move on to the next prompt. After a couple minutes, you'll hear that bell again, and we'll move on to the next prompt and we'll just keep going on like that. Until we're finished, feel free to write 'em whatever you like. And if you finish before the bell, you can try to dig deeper and elaborate or just chill out and enjoy the tunes. Don't overthink it. There's no wrong way to do this. So welcome to the party journal party. Yoyo, yo, your boy Alex in the house, ready to do some journaling. All right, here's what I got going on. You know that feeling when you keep asking everyone else for advice, even though deep down you already know what you wanna do. Same. Trusting ourselves can feel weirdly hard sometimes, like we need someone else to give us permission to trust our own gut. But the truth is, self-trust isn't something we have to earn from others. It's already inside of us. We just have to practice listening to it. Today, we're gonna dig into that and give ourselves permission to know what we know. That's right. Today we're gonna be jamming through five journal prompts to help you strengthen your self-trust. So open up that journal. Let's get this party started. Here comes prompt number one, right about a time when you trusted your gut and it paid off. How did it feel to lean into your own wisdom? Prompt number two, where in your life do you tend to second guess yourself? What would it look like to trust yourself in those situations? Prompt number three, think of someone whose advice you often seek. What would happen if you just trusted yourself instead of asking them? Number four. What's one small decision you can make today without consulting anyone else? How does it feel to take ownership of that choice? Prop number five, write a few encouraging words to yourself about why you are already capable of making good decisions. Nice work party people. Go ahead and take a moment to sit with whatever came up for you today. Self-trust isn't about getting it right every time.
