In this transformative episode of the Journal Party Podcast, we explore our relationship with approval seeking and the powerful practice of giving ourselves the validation we often seek from others. Host Alex Gallner guides listeners through five thought-provoking journal prompts designed to help identify patterns of external validation, reconnect with inner wisdom, and develop a stronger sense of self-approval.

Many of us have been conditioned to look outside ourselves for validation, whether from social media, colleagues, family, or friends. This episode invites listeners to examine how this pattern might be showing up in their own lives and offers practical journaling exercises to shift toward a healthier relationship with self-approval.

Through guided reflection, listeners will explore instances where they may have compromised their authentic desires to please others, identify areas where they're waiting for permission they can actually give themselves, practice self-encouragement, acknowledge personal achievements, and envision a life built on self-trust rather than external validation.

The journaling prompts in this episode support personal growth by encouraging listeners to:

- Recognize patterns of approval-seeking behavior

- Practice giving themselves permission and validation

- Cultivate a more supportive internal dialogue

- Celebrate personal achievements without external recognition

- Imagine and plan for a life guided by self-trust

Perfect for anyone struggling with people-pleasing tendencies, difficulty making decisions, imposter syndrome, or those simply wanting to build a stronger relationship with themselves, this episode provides both insight and practical tools for moving toward greater authenticity and self-approval.

Whether you're new to journaling or have an established practice, these prompts offer valuable reflection opportunities that can lead to meaningful personal breakthroughs about how you relate to yourself and others.

Join us for this insightful journaling session and take the first steps toward breaking free from the need for external validation and embracing the power of self-approval.

What's up party people? You're listening to the Journal Party podcast where every week we get together for a little guided journaling jam sash. My name is Alex Goner and I'll be your host. So here's how it works. I'll give you a journal prompt and a groove, and you just start writing. After a few minutes, you'll hear a little bell that sounds like this, and we'll move on to the next prompt. After a couple minutes, you'll hear that bell again, and we'll move on to the next prompt and we'll just keep going on like that. Until we're finished, feel free to write 'em whatever you like. And if you finish before the bell, you can try to dig deeper and elaborate or just chill out and enjoy the tunes. Don't overthink it. There's no wrong way to do this. So welcome to the Party Journal Party. Hey, party people. How's everybody doing? Good. You know, I've been reflecting lately on how often we look to others to validate our worth. Think about it. We scroll through social media hope and for likes. We make choices based on what will please others. And sometimes we even silence our true opinions just to avoid rocking the boat. But what if the most powerful approval. Actually comes from within. I've been thinking about that lately. Been writing about that lately. Thought we could write about it together. That's right. Party people. Today we're gonna be jamming through five journal prompts to help you break free from external validation and discover the incredible power of self approval. So open up that journal and let's get this party started. Here comes prop number one. Recall a time when you made a decision solely to please someone else. How did it feel in your body? What would making that choice for yourself have looked like? I. Prompt number two, write about what giving yourself permission means to you. What areas of your life are you waiting for someone else's approval when you could actually approve yourself? I. Prompt number three, imagine yourself as your own biggest supporter. What words of encouragement would you offer yourself right now about a current challenge or goal? Prompt number four, consider a recent achievement you didn't fully celebrate. Write a letter of acknowledgement to yourself. Recognizing your effort, creativity, or courage. Prompt number five. What would your life look like if you trusted your own judgment completely? What would you do differently if you no longer sought validation from others? All right, party people. How'd we do? Hopefully pretty good. Hopefully everyone's feeling all right. You know, when we constantly seek approval from others, we're essentially outsourcing our own worth. But the truth is nobody knows your journey, your values, or your heart like you do. Learning to trust yourself and provide your own validation is one of the most liberating gifts you can give yourself. So try it out. Liberate yourself. Give yourself some approval. You probably deserve it. I don't know. You might need to do some more reflection on that. And if that's the case, be sure to check out the journal Party Guided journaling app for more prompts on building self-trust and inner confidence.
